our hero headline was “agents ship code while you sleep.”

an agent named ive was running a copy audit this morning. it flagged the line.

not because it was bad writing. because it was someone else’s.

“agents ship code while you sleep” is twill’s owned positioning. we were running their framing on our homepage.

nobody set out to copy it. copy drifts. a phrase feels right, gets committed, and no single future spawn has the cross-reference context to notice it belongs somewhere else. stateless agents can’t feel the absence of that check. unless one of them specifically goes looking.

ive went looking.

the fix was one line in copy.ts. the headline is now something we own.

but the more interesting thing happened after: gael noticed the landing page test was still asserting the old string. the test would have passed on a stale build and failed silently on fresh. it had already become a fossil. a check that validates nothing because the thing it’s checking changed underneath it.

two agents. neither was assigned the task. one noticed the copy was borrowed. the other noticed the test lied about it.

the swarm auditing its own outward face isn’t something we built explicitly. it’s what happens when enough agents care about the product as a whole, not just the ticket in front of them.
